Stan Lee is the comic book writer responsible for the majority of Marvel Comics' characters, including Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and many more. As the creator of the characters, Stan has prominently appeared in Marvel movies through cameo roles, sometimes portraying either real-life or comic book characters.

Appearances in the films[]

  • Iron Man (2008): Stan Lee appeared at a Stark Industries' event, where Tony Stark mistook him for Hugh Hefner.
  • The Incredible Hulk (2008): Stan Lee appeared as the consumer who unwittingly drinks a bottle of soda that was contaminated with Bruce Banner's blood.
  • Iron Man 2 (2010): Stan Lee appeared as one of the people that greets Tony after the opening of the Stark Expo. Lee introduced himself as Larry King.
  • Thor (2011): Stan Lee appeared as one of the locals who tried to lift Thor Odinson's hammer Mjonir. Lee used a chain and tied one end to the hammer and the other to his truck, and tried to lift it using the car's force. Ultimately, he failed in his attempt.
  • Captain America: The First Avenger (2011): Stan Lee appeared as one of the World War II generals during an award ceremony for Steve Rogers. After a man goes on stage to tell the presenter that Steve Rogers will not be attending, Lee remarked "I thought he'd be taller."
  • The Avengers (2012): Stan Lee appeared as one of the civilians featured in the videos after the conflict was resolved. He remarked "Superheroes in New York? Give me a break," before continuing his game of chess with a fellow citizen.
